Here's my concept for this year's party: Happy Halloween! (for Luminous Children & Glowing Adults!)

We hear it all the time, but this year, I really mean it! By which I imply: Halloween + Happiness, to the extreme!

The idea is to make the mood not scary, not spooky, not dark, not obsessed with death or decay or demons.

tho it may end up being the scariest Halloween ever! And because it is happening ON Halloween itself, you will have to traverse every other incarnation of the night's theme, moving thru the streets & subways & buildings, knowing that you are going elsewhere this night, and not where the rest of New York is headed. I'm pretty confident to assume that everyone else, who is participating in this embodiment of the holiday, discounting those who either refuse or decide not to or are simply oblivious, will evoke, by costume or environment, party or parade, "the dark side of nature", or else "fantasy" or some variation of "sexy" . . . but in the context of either "scary", "spooky" or "the dead." (& believe me, I am, not surprisingly, a huge fan of all things spooky & smoky, witches, vampires & ghouls, funereal & deadly, fog~drenched, darkness, blackness, frightful. scary & ghostly. . .)

So I'm putting out this opposite theme, this reversal of perception, this contrary space, of "pure happinesss." So if you take the challenge and decide to come, expect brightness & light, ebullient joy & a mood of positive uplift! Nothing gloomy or black, tho you may very well find it exceedingly creepy or uncannily weird.

And even tho there are happy witches & friendly ghosts (white magic & generous spirits) ~ so I'm told, or have even experienced on occasion, I don't want to dictate your interpretations or censor your impulses, or control your responses to this inquiry ~ since you are inspired friends and creative minds, provocative improvisors and unpredictable artists, all, ~ So be it! Take this invitation to think outside the coffin/box or graveyard plot, do something a bit different on this very evening ~ to see if we can create a parallel universe ~ to the traditional, or even radical, celebration, as an experiment in light & happiness, and an attempt at an "impossible" reversal.

Perhaps there will be love & ecstasy in the air? There will be happy friends, films, & music. & laughter.
